Vinny’s History
In our latest podcast episode, we had the pleasure of speaking with Vinny Warren, an Irish-American advertising creative director best known for creating Budweiser’s iconic “Wassup?” campaign. Born in Galway, Ireland, Vinny began his career in New York under the mentorship of legendary advertising writer Ed McCabe before moving to Chicago in 1995, where he joined DDB as a creative director. In 1999, he developed the groundbreaking “Wassup?” campaign, inspired by Charles Stone III’s short film “True.”
The campaign became a global sensation, earning numerous industry accolades, including a Cannes Lions Grand Prix and a Grand Clio, and was inducted into the Clio Awards Hall of Fame in 2006. In 2006, Vinny launched his own agency, The Escape Pod, where he served as executive creative director until 2021, continuing to innovate and lead daring advertising campaigns.
